Plug Connector

When i plug my ipod into my car connector for my alpine radio everything shows up on the screen such as?
albums, playlists, etc. When i play the song it says the song is playing on the screen but no sound comes out in the speakers in my car. Then i plugged in my brothers ipod and the sound works perfect. any idea why his works and not mine?
Could be a problem with the connector itself. maybe you could ask the people where you bought it.
