Plug Connector

Hey all! Is there any way to plug a 3/4 pin case fan into a 2 pin connector?
I'm replacing an extremely noisy 80mm PSU fan that has a 2 pin connector.
there are several ways
first off is the new fan 12 or 5 volts?
if its 5, attach the red wire from the fan to the red wire on a spare hard drive [molex] connector
if its 12 attach the red wire from the fan to the yellow wire on a spare hard drive [molex] connector
the black wire can also go to the black wire in the same plug
the third wire in the fan is just to monitor its speed
