Many recordists know something about the positives and negatives of USB microphones. A few have heard of Blue USB microphones. A very popular one is the Snowball. This is said to sound just as good, if not better than the desktop microphone you have on built into your computer. You get a pouch with it to hold it so that it does not get broken. It is very easy to use as well. This is a simple USB mic which you can use with many software programs on your computer.

Another one of the most popular Blue USB mics out there is called the Blue Yeti. This mic is is probably the sturdiest one on the market and the sound rendered is of a much higher quality than many others. People can use this microphone to record directly to their computer via the USB port. It's also one of the most adaptable as it has many patterns for sound pick-up: cardioid, omni-directional, figure 8 etc. It also has a pad for very loud sound sources and a bass rolloff.

In an altogether different class of Blue Microphone, there is the Pro Audio line. You will find that these are mostly condenser side address microphones. They're for all you recording artists who are top notch where every nuance of your performance needs to be captured. However, they can be quite expensive. Most of them have class A circuitry and have interchangeable capsules as well, depending on which characteristics you desire. These microphones are used almost exclusively for Studio Recording as they are fairly delicate and aren't designed to handle the rigors of a stage application. The Blue Dragonfly is an example of this type of microphone. With this microphone the capsule regulates the sound impulses which you will get.
