How do I hook up auto speakers to head unit and amplifier so they will play when either the amp is on or not?
I am hooking up a new head unit and amplifier. The diagrams show hooking speakers up the the head unit or the amp but not both. I want to be able have the same speakers play music with just the head unit on or also with the amp on. Do I just connect the positive and negative wires for a speaker from the head and the amp together?

you can not hook up the speakers to the head unit and the amp at the same time, you will have problems.
there might be a unit that allows you to plug in to it with the deck on on channel and the amp on another and you can use the unit to switch between the two but this would require extra speaker wiring.
i would just say use the amp cause the amp will sound better, and other then using less power the decks power has no advantages.
george u buy a clue, you missed the question and all so missed the fact that damage or bad sounds could happen if both the deck and amp are wired together.
